CONSTITUENT SURVEY
Almost 30 thousand Californians recently sent me ideas on their
priorities for the new session of Congress. I am very grateful to
everyone who participated.
Of the issues listed, the top four people listed as their top priority
were:
• Preserving Social Security and Medicare
• Making health care more affordable for families
• Protecting a woman's right to choose
• Reducing our national debt
Many people also filled in their own answers. The top three of
those fill-in answers were:
• Ending the War in Iraq
• Election Reform
• Closing the Borders/Illegal Immigration
Like the people who responded to my survey, I am deeply committed
to stopping the privatization of Social Security and preserving
it and Medicare for future generations. I also believe that making
health care more affordable, protecting a woman’s right to
choose and reducing our national debt are all vital to our nation
and its residents. You can count on me to continue my work in these
areas.
I also am deeply concerned about our nation’s future actions
in Iraq. My goal in coming months is to work with my Senate colleagues
to find ways to increase international involvement and decrease
the prominence of our nation’s role in Iraq. You can also
count on me to continue my work to bring about election reform so
that every vote counts and every vote is counted. I also will work
to find ways to enforce border security for our nation’s safety.
My thanks to everyone who participated in my on-line survey. I
appreciate your views.
