Since coming to the United States Senate, I have succeeded in doubling federal transportation funding for California, creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs in our state while also improving our roads and mass transit.
Reviewing Safety of Nuclear Plants
Senator Boxer (D-CA) has been leading calls for a comprehensive review of nuclear safety in the United States in light of Japan’s nuclear crisis. Boxer has also joined with Senator Feinstein to urge inspections of California’s two nuclear plants, Diablo Canyon and San Onofre, both of which are near earthquake faults.
Senate Military Family Caucus
Senator Boxer is Co-Chair of the Senate Military Family Caucus. The Caucus was formed to improve programs and services for military families, and to focus on the unique and growing challenges they face. The Caucus aims to substantively address issues including childcare, education, employment, health care and the effects of multiple deployments on the mental health and well-being of spouses, caregivers and children.
