$20 Million Boxer Request for Pine Flat Dam Ecosystem Restoration Approved by Committee

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today announced that the Senate Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) will include funding for the Pine Flat Dam Ecosystem Restoration Project. The bill was approved by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

“This funding will improve the aquatic habitat and fisheries in the Kings River below Pine Flat Reservoir,” Boxer said. “I am very pleased that the Environment and Public Works Committee has recognized the importance of this project and agreed to fund it.”

Under Boxer’s proposal, approved today as part of WRDA, the project is authorized for a federal contribution of $20 million. The Pine Flat Dam project implements a cooperative program to improve and manage fisheries in the Kings River below Pine Flat Reservoir.

WRDA authorizes water supply, flood control, port improvement, and environmental restoration projects across the country. The bill now goes to the full Senate for consideration.
