Senator Boxer Announces Humboldt County Student As Winner Of Earth Day Poster Contest
I am pleased that so many California students participated in my Earth Day Poster Contest," Boxer stated. "Charles drew a wonderful poster demonstrating the importance of recycling. Recycling is something we can all do to protect our environment. I applaud Charles for promoting recycling on Earth Day."
For the contest, students were asked to design a poster expressing their interpretation of Earth Day. The entries were judged in four categories: Grades K-2, Grades 3 and 4, Grades 5 and 6, and a Special Day Class category for children with special needs. Hansen was one of two winners selected from the Special Day Class category.
Winners will receive a congratulatory letter and certificate of appreciation from Senator Boxer, as well as an American flag flown over the United States Capitol in their honor.
Posters in both the winning and honorable mention categories are currently displayed as part of Senator Boxer’s special Earth Day webpage feature, located at http://boxer.senate.gov/earthday/index.cfm . A link to the Earth Day feature page is also available on the Boxer homepage, http://boxer.senate.gov.
