Senator Boxer Announces San Gabriel Students As Winners Of Earth Day Poster Contest  

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today announced that third grader Jade Krause and fifth grader Randy Flores of San Gabriel were winners of her Earth Day Poster Contest. Eleven posters were honored out of 1,820 entries. Krause and Flores are both students at Wilson Elementary School.

"I am pleased that so many California students participated in my Earth Day Poster Contest," Boxer stated. "Jade and Randy drew our planet in beautiful ways. Jade’s message was simple, 'Love Your Earth. Don’t Pollute.' Randy’s wonderful illustrations clearly show us the importance of cherishing our planet and nature’s incredible creations."

For the contest, students were asked to design a poster expressing their interpretation of Earth Day. The entries were judged in four categories: Grades K-2, Grades 3 and 4, Grades 5 and 6, and a Special Day Class category for children with special needs.

Winners will receive a congratulatory letter and certificate of appreciation from Senator Boxer, as well as an American flag flown over the United States Capitol in their honor.
