Boxer Lauds Funding for National Parks   

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today lauded Interior Secretary Ken Salazar’s announcement that the National Park Service will invest more than $97 million to improve National Parks in California.

These funds are part of a $750 million commitment included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to create jobs and stimulate the economy by revitalizing National Parks and infrastructure, rehabilitating visitors’ centers and completing long-deferred maintenance projects.

Senator Boxer said, “California is home to some of our country’s most magnificent and beautiful lands and National Parks.  I am thrilled that money from the economic recovery package will help improve California’s National Parks and ensure that these treasures are preserved for our children and our grandchildren.”

According tothe Department of the Interior, the $97 million in California will be used as follows:
