Boxer Expresses Disappointment With Consent Decree Regarding Mining Contracts In Soledad Canyon

Washington, D.C.-U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer today expressed her disappointment with a Consent Decree concerning Cemex's mining contracts in Soledad Canyon. The Consent Decree was negotiated among Cemex, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the County of Los Angeles.

"I am disappointed with the Consent Decree because it fails to sufficiently address the City of Santa Clarita's concerns about the air pollution and traffic that will result from mining operations in Soledad Canyon. I intend to continue working with Congressman McKeon to ensure that any mining operation in Soledad Canyon provides the protections sought by the residents."
