Boxer Praises Historic Launch of SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket  

Successful Launch a Product of the Partnership Between NASA and Hawthorne, CA-based SpaceX

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today praised Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX for the successful launch of its Falcon 9 rocket into space, part of a demonstration mission conducted in partnership with NASA.  

Senator Boxer said, “SpaceX’s historic launch of the Falcon 9 rocket marks the start of a new era in space exploration. I commend the entire SpaceX team in Hawthorne and their partners at NASA who made today’s launch a success.”  

The launch took place in Cape Canaveral, Florida today at 3:44 am ET, and SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft is now on its way to the International Space Station. While en route, the Dragon capsule will perform a series of challenging tests including maneuvering, communications, and abort demonstrations. To see video of the launch, click here.
