Boxer Statement on Supreme Court Ruling on Arizona Immigration Law
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) issued the following statement today after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down three of the four provisions of Arizona’s immigration law as unconstitutional:
“In their immigration decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the enforcement of immigration laws is a federal responsibility and that no state has the right to discriminate against its own people.
“I was disappointed that one provision was upheld, but the Supreme Court sent a clear message that if the measure is not implemented narrowly – to help federal officials enforce immigration law – it will not stand.”
