Boxer Statement on Republicans Blocking Nomination of Richard Cordray to Lead Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Washington, D.C.
– U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) released the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked the nomination of former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau:

“Senate Republicans chose to protect Wall Street rather than the American people by blocking this exceptional nominee to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

“With this vote, Republicans have once again made clear they don’t want a cop on the beat cracking down on the type of unscrupulous lending and financial fraud that led to the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression.”
