Boxer Secures Funding for Coachella Valley
Washington, DC– Yesterday, the U.S. Senate passed an omnibus appropriations bill that includes funding requested by U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) for key initiatives in the Coachella Valley.
The omnibus passed the Senate by a vote of 57 to 35 and now goes to President Obama for his signature.
The following are investments secured by Senator Boxer for the Coachella Valley:
Palm Springs International Airport Terminal Air Traffic Control Facilities Replacement
Amount: $2,000,000
Funding will be used to construct a new air traffic control tower at Palm Springs International Airport to replace the current, outdated tower that does not meet FAA codes and can no longer meet the airport’s needs as runways and taxiways have lengthened and airport traffic has increased.

Coachella Valley Anti-Gang Task Force Project
Location: Cathedral City, California
Amount: $500,000
Funds will support the Coachella Valley’s Anti-Gang Task Force, which is a proven, collaborative effort between federal, state and local law enforcement, prosecutors and community leaders that provides a comprehensive approach to reduce gang violence.

Desert Hot Springs Civic Center Complex Improvements
Location: Desert Hot Springs, California
Amount: $292,200
Funding will be used to improve Desert Hot Springs’ Civic Center Complex, which houses a Boys and Girls Club and City Administration offices.
