Hooray and hooray again for your reasoned, lucid article in the Huffington Post in support of our President's health-care directive regarding the availability of birth-control information. Whether it's attacks on and distortion of Planned Parenthood's mission--absolutely critical in rural areas such as our Redwood Coast--or the distortion of President Obama's order, it remains for leaders such as yourself to take the courageous stand expressed in your article. Sincerely,
Duncan and Betty, McKinleyville
Thank you for speaking out in support of President Obama's decision to allow free access to contraception through health insurance programs. I am Roman Catholic and in no way do I feel my religious freedom has been compromised. Sincerely,
Angela, Oakland
I am Catholic and do not believe I should be forced to pay for Birth Control through taxes. I definitely do not believe the President’s decision should be lauded as this goes against my religious freedom.
Anthony, Torrance
I agree with President Obama's action in the matter of requiring all employers to provide birth control in their health insurance plans. Those who cite freedom of religion in opposition to this measure are forgetting that they are not free to force the dictates of their own religion on their employees or anyone else. Requiring employees to live by the religious dictates of their employer's beliefs is quite a grotesque perversion of their claim to religious freedom. Nobody is saying the employer has to use birth control, yet they wish to disallow its use to those who are their employees.

Thanks for speaking up and supporting the President. These are such important decisions for women in our country.
Diana, Lodi
Thank you for your support of President Obama's decision to give free birth control to those with insurance. We still need to make it available for those that do not have health insurance, but this is a great step in the right direction. Sincerely,
Rebecca, Redondo Beach
I do not share your views on this matter. it is not right that Catholic institutions (colleges, hospitals, high schools) be required to distribute or fund such items which are contrary to Catholic doctrine. It would be hypocritical. I do support you and President Obama on most matters, but never this.
Jim, Oceanside
I think the attacks on women’s rights to reproductive services and medical care are appalling! I applaud your support of women’s rights to privacy and dignity in their choices in these matters. Thanks!!
John, Seal Beach
Why should all Americans be charged for another citizen's lack of Birth Control knowledge? All U.S. Citizens are going to pay for this service in their monthly fee. Considering our governments debt situation, the last thing we need is to offer additional care.
Joseph, Encinitas
Thank you for clarifying your side on this matter. It is very important to me.
