Senator Boxer's “Help Save the Earth” contest

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Dear Friends:

I'd like to invite California students to be a part of my Earth Day “Help Save the Earth” contest.  The contest details are outlined below.

As Chairman of the Senate’s Environment and Public Works Committee, I am working to make our world a cleaner and healthier place.  My “Help Save the Earth” contest is aimed to get young people to think about and share their ideas on how we can improve our environment.

Contest Rules:
  1. Each entry should include an illustration (on 8 ½ by 11 paper) and a description (in 50 words or less) of one way to “Help Save the Earth.”
  2. All contestants should clearly include their name, teacher’s name, school name, and school address.
  3. Entries may be bundled by class or sent separately.  They should be postmarked no later than April 9, 2010 and mailed to:
    Help Save the Earth Contest
Office of U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
    501 I Street, Suite 7-600
    Sacramento, CA 95814
  4. Descriptions should be typed or clearly printed or written.

Winners will be judged by grade level, with prizes to the winners.  We will also post the winning illustrations and ideas on my Senate website, pending parental consent.

If you or your staff have any questions, please feel free to contact Donna Strain at 916-448-2787.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer, US Senator, California
