Senator Boxer: National Night Out
Friday, July 31, 2009
Each year, National Night Out is celebrated in communities across America to show local resolve to fight crime and illegal drugs. Communities are encouraged to have people gather for block parties, community discussions, cookouts, parades, youth programs, or any other way to show solidarity to fight crime.
This year, National Night Out is celebrated on Tuesday, August 4. To find an event near you, or to learn more about how you can be involved, you can use this link: http://www.nationaltownwatch.org/nno/index.html
National Night Out is designed to heighten awareness about crime and drug prevention, generate support for local anticrime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. It also sends a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are aware, organized and fighting back.
I support the efforts of National Night Out and hope that you will consider participating at an event near you.
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
