Senator Boxer: "Passport Day in the USA"
Wednesday, September 7, 2011
Dear Friend:
The U.S. Department of State recently announced that “Passport Day in the USA 2011” will be held on Saturday, September 17th, at Regional Passport Agencies and at 51 other facilities throughout the state of California. To find the location nearest you, please click here.
Passport Day is an annual opportunity for citizens to apply for passports on a Saturday at a nearby facility without an appointment. Normally a Passport Agency sees customers only by appointment, but on Passport Day you can walk in and receive routine service – or get expedited service for an additional fee if you need your passport in a hurry.
As you may know, it has become increasingly important for U.S. citizens to have passports because travelers crossing the international border must now have a passport book or card to reenter the United States. (The passport card is a less expensive and more portable alternative to the traditional passport book.)
For more information about Passport Day in the USA, with links to information about required documents and processing fees, please click here or browse the Passport Agency website at http://travel.state.gov.
Passport Day in the USA offers Californians a convenient way to get international travel documents. If you need a passport but do not already have one, I encourage you to consider this event.
Sincerely,
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
