Senator Boxer: Honoring America’s Veterans

Friday, November 9, 2012

Dear Friend:

On Veterans Day, we honor and commend the brave men and women who have served our nation throughout history and who continue to serve today.  We owe an eternal debt of gratitude to our veterans, who have sacrificed so much to defend America and its citizens. (To read a brief history of Veterans Day, please click here.)

This year, as we observe Veterans Day, we must never forget that our veterans deserve more than just our appreciation – they deserve our enduring support.  Our nation cannot, and must not, allow their needs to go unmet.

That is why I am working in the U.S. Senate to improve health care, education and employment opportunities, and other services for veterans and their families.  To read more about my work, please click here.

Americans across the nation will come together this week to recognize and celebrate our veterans, including at gatherings throughout our state. (For a list of Veterans Day events in California, click here.)

On this Veterans Day, I encourage everyone to honor our veterans. I also urge you to take every opportunity to thank all of our service members, veterans, and their families for their extraordinary service and countless sacrifices.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer, US Senator, California
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
