Thank you for your work to hold the NRC to improved safety standards. However, we feel nuclear power is way too expensive and dangerous - there is no safe way to store waste for 10,000 years, and nuclear plants are too susceptible to terrorism. Please support sustainable and attainable solar and wind power, and conservation upgrades that can save energy right now. Thank you. Ted, Tahoe City
Thank you for actively pressing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to do its job to make the nuclear power industry as safe as possible. Far too often, the commission has acted to decrease the costs to the industry, rather than to protect the American public from the relatively rare, but extremely dangerous risks that nuclear power plants pose. In fact, the risks of nuclear power are so great that solar and wind and geothermal power sources should be developed rather than nuclear power. William, Pacific Palisades
Please do all you can to move the country to Solar, Wind and away from Nuclear, coal and foreign oil dependency. Kathe, Carlsbad
The industry always claims to be over regulated. Then there is an accident and their response is "you approved it" or "why didn't you stop me?" I am on the side of aggressive regulators to prevent the accident waiting to happen. Robert, Tarzana
I personally feel there is NO way to make nuclear power safe (what will happen will all that radioactive waste supposedly in 'safe' storage for thousands??? of years) I would like to see us phase out of it completely and would fully support you in pushing for that. Sincerely, Denise, Junction City
Please continue to pressure the EPA and the NRC to move forward regarding the safety of our nuclear reactors, especially those with the same characteristics as those at Fukushima. Your efforts are needed as the "responsible" bureaucracy appears to be shirking their responsibilities--or, at the very least, moving far too slowly to perform their duties. Frank, Colton
I applaud your efforts to hold the NRC and the nuclear industry to the highest standards. I will support the most stringent safeguards, I believe a zero tolerance policy is best. No infraction, however minor, should be ignored. Scott, Oakland
THIS IS A TOP PRIORITY Caroline, Redlands
California regulators need to shut down our 2 nuclear sites and secure them. We cannot wait for another major earthquake in California to address these issues. Keep up the good work for the environment! Sincerely, Christine, San Diego
I am completely against the use of nuclear power in the United States or any other country. We should be focusing time and money on green, sustainable power sources, such as solar, wind, and hydro. Nuclear is a devastating power source that does not go away. It may not put off emissions into the air, but there is no way to dispose of the waste and mining uranium is also devastating to the environment. As we can see with the disaster in Japan there is no way to be certain that we are safe with nuclear power plants around the globe. I urge you to support the end of nuclear power and the closing of nuclear power plants all over the US. Molly, Trinidad
I do not want nuclear power even if it is regulated. My husband and I live off the power grid and we make our own power using solar panels. I think we should be using our country's resources to promote power independence and teaching the public about solar energy. We heat our house with sustainable wood from our forest. Sincerely, Shannon, Nevada City
600,000 tons of nuclear waste, probably mostly from Europe, is deposited off the west coast of Africa. America was a country with the largest middle class. Now, the American Dream of "My kids will have it better than me" is dead. Today, it was reported that half of Americans live in poverty, or at a low level of income. The trend, aside from the usual political "statements" of primacy of America in all things, is that things will continue to get worse, then worse and worse. In this new era of American descent, it is logical to conclude that there will be no future solution to the nuclear problems. Therefor, we must stop all nuclear now, and proceed to cleanup. Do not curse all future generations with mutational radiation, please. Michael, Anza
