Requirements for Selection

In the year before entry to the academy, you may request the application forms. Senator Boxer's office begins mailing application forms to applicants in April. Applications for Class entering 2014 must be submitted to arrive with postmark of not later than November 1, 2013. Take the SAT or ACT examinations no later than October.

Senator Boxer's code numbers for direct reporting of scores are: SAT, 0246; ACT, 7109.

You must notify the academies of your interest in applying. Complete your application file at the academy as soon as possible and keep your file up to date.

In selecting nominees, Senator Boxer follows recommendations from a volunteer Service Academy Selection Advisory Committee, which conducts an objective, merit-based review of the applicants. Each year, around 1,000 young people apply for a nomination from this office. In January, the committee interviews by telephone the top applicants to each academy for admission in that year.
