I am pleased to let you know that Temecula will be receiving summer youth employment funding as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This legislation, also known as “the stimulus act,” was intended to create jobs in local communities and to benefit local communities.
The $400,000 in federal funding will help provide jobs for 14- to 24-year-olds enrolled in the Temecula Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The program aims to employ up to 250 youths in full- and part-time jobs throughout Temecula for six to eight weeks. The program will also receive local funding and will place teens in local businesses.
I am pleased that Temecula applied for and received this funding, which will give local teens summer jobs that will give them not just summer money, but important job skills.
Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
